Democrats Lead Over Republicans In Somerset County Races, Per Unofficial Results

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Somerset County has multiple contested races including the County Commissioner, Sheriff, and Clerk.

As of midnight, the Democratic candidates were leading over the Republicans, according to unofficial results.

Below are the latest unofficial results (* denotes incumbent):

Somerset County Board of County Commissioners

• Melonie Marano - Democrat* - 56,516
• Amber Murad - Republican - 49,444

Somerset County Sheriff

• Darrin Russo - Democrat* - 57,431
• John Sheridan - Republican - 49,355

Somerset County Clerk

• Steve Peter - Democrat* - 56,653
• Suzanne Maeder - Republican - 50,001

A total of 266 out of 267 districts are reporting or 99.63 percent, according to the Somerset Couty Clerk.

These initial tallies do not represent the final election outcome. Mail-in ballots can still arrive by Nov. 14. A final certification of the results must be done by November 26.
