Somerset County Emails Back Online After Cyber Attack

After a cybersecurity breach infiltrated Somerset County almost 2 weeks ago, email is now back online yet some services are still down.

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ — Somerset County emails are back online after a cybersecurity breach involving ransomware infiltrated the system almost two weeks ago. However, some services remain down.

Residents contacting the County can now use department and individual email addresses. The majority of desktop computers have also been cleared and are back online allowing employees to work at their assigned locations.

The full restoration of services continues.

"We are grateful to our IT staff and our partners for their amazing work and long hours over the past two weeks to repair and restore our networks and systems," said County Administrator Colleen Mahr. "We are also thankful for the flexibility of County employees as they ensured residents receive needed services such as 911, transportation, early voting, and recycling pickup."

A cyber attack targeted Somerset County's system on May 24 bringing down email and other services. Read More: Cyber Attack Shuts Down Somerset County Email
