Somerset County Library System of New Jersey Offers Linked Patron Feature for Easier Checkout
Patrons sharing a primary address can now link library card accounts

(Somerset County, NJ: November 4, 2014) Somerset County Library System of New Jersey (SCLSNJ) is now offering patrons the opportunity to link library card accounts so that patrons can quickly and easily pick up holds, renew materials, and pay fines for anyone they are “linked” to using just one library card. The new Linked Patron feature is available in all 10 SCLSNJ branches.
Library cardholders wishing to link their accounts must share the same primary address but are not required to be related. All library cards (or signed copies of library cards) must be presented when the patron’s accounts are being linked. The Linked Patron feature cannot be used online or at self checkout. At the cardholder’s request, a library card can be unlinked at any time.

“The aim of this new feature is to make everyone’s life easier - our patrons’ and our staff’s,” said Wendy Clarkson, SCLSNJ System Administrator. “If you are a patron who typically has to check out items for multiple people in your household, you no longer have to carry multiple cards or copies of cards. With the Linked Patron feature, you simply present one library card and can get everything done more efficiently.”
