Fatal NJ Turnpike Crash Claims Life Of Somerset County Truck Driver
The dump truck experienced a tire failure which caused it to overturn on Wednesday, said NJ state police.
MANVILLE, NJ — A Somerset County man was identified as the dump truck driver killed in a New Jersey Turnpike crash on Wednesday.
Nelson Gonzalez, 45, of Manville, was identified as the driver of a Peterbilt dump truck, said New Jersey State Police Philip Curry.
On Aug. 16 at 10:51 a.m., Gonzalez was driving south on the outer roadway of the NJ Turnpike at milepost 55.2 in Chesterfield Township in Burlington County when it experienced a tire failure, said Curry.

The Peterbilt then overturned, ran off the road to the right, and hit a guide rail and chain link fence, said Curry.
As a result of the crash, Gonzalez sustained fatal injuries.

The right lane of the southbound outer roadway was closed for around 7 hours. The crash remains under investigation.
