Alfonso's Family Restaurant Reopens In Somerville After 2 Month Closure

The restaurant in downtown Somerville has been closed since July after a water pipe burst and flooded the restaurant.

SOMERVILLE, NJ — Alfonso's Family Trattoria & Gourmet Pizzeria has reopened as of Monday after a water pipe burst and flooded the restaurant in July.

The restaurant at 99 W Main St. in Somerville posted messages on its social media pages at Alfonso's Somerville announcing the news.

"We're so happy to be back come on in!" said the restaurant on Oct. 2.

Alfonso's Family Trattoria & Gourmet Pizzeria has been a Somerville tradition for 45 years. Alfonso's was founded by Aniello Ianniello, who immigrated from Naples Italy to Brooklyn, NY in 1954 before moving to Central Jersey and opening Alfonso's in Somerville in 1978.

According to its website, the restaurant boasts many awards including being voted the "Best Italian Restaurant in Somerset County", "Best Pizzeria in Somerset County", and "Best Family Restaurant in Somerset County."
