New Details: School Bus With Students, SUV Collide Before Crash Into Bridgewater Home: PD
Students from Hillside Intermediate School were aboard the bus when the crash happened in the Finderne section of Bridgewater on Thursday.
BRIDGEWATER, NJ — New details have emerged after an SUV crashed into a home causing a gas line to rupture on Thursday.
On April 11 at around 8:58 a.m., Bridgewater Police Officers along with Finderne Fire Department responded to the area of East Main Street and Thomas Street for a report of a vehicle into a building.
A preliminary investigation found that a 2019 First Student School Bus operated by Cynthia Estes, 63, of Basking Ridge, was traveling west in the left lane of East Main Street in the area of Thomas Street, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Frederick J. Brittain III.

Estes made a right turn, from the left lane, and hit a 2018 Nissan Rogue that was traveling in the right lane, said Brittain III.
Due to the crash, the Nissan Rogue veered sharply to the left crossed over the left lane, the double yellow lines, ran off the roadway to the left, and hit a home, said Brittain III.

PSE&G responded immediately and secured the gas to the house.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital (Somerset) for injuries sustained as a result of the crash.
None of the passengers of the school bus, the driver of the school bus, or the occupant of the residential structure sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
The school bus was serving the Bridgewater-Raritan school district and coming from Hillside Intermediate School, said Brittain III.
This crash remains under investigation and any witnesses of the crash are asked to contact Officer Jon Han at 908-722-4111 ext. 4110 or the Traffic Safety Unit at 908-722-4111 ext. 1714.
The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.
Volunteers are offered complete protective gear, free training, LOSAP (Length of Service Award Programs), a pay-per-call incentive, a life insurance/disability plan, and an in-house gym.
