'Swatting' Call Sends Police To Bridgewater Home

Rumors of a shooting in Bridgewater early Tuesday morning were not true, police said.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A report claiming a woman was shot in the township early Tuesday morning turned out to be fake, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

Authorities are investigating a swatting incident. Swatting is making a false report of an emergency to public safety with the intent of getting a "SWAT team" response to a location where no emergency exists.

Bridgewater Officers went to a home on Shaffer Road to investigate the report that a woman had been shot at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, said Lamey.
