Trapped Driver Rescued By Bridgewater Firefighters In Route 22 Crash

Route 22 East was closed for about an hour on Monday morning as a result, said Bridgewater Police.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Finderne volunteer firefighters rescued a trapped driver following a crash on Monday morning on Route 22 in Bridgewater.

On Feb. 6 at 6:08 a.m., Finderne Fire Department was called to Route 22 East near Finderne Avenue for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

A black Chevrolet Cruze was driving east on Route 22 when the driver tried to exit onto Finderne Avenue southbound when it crossed over into the northbound lane of Finderne Avenue, said Bridgewater Police Lt. Kevin Lamey.

That's when the Cruze hit a white Chevrolet Traverse that was stopped waiting to drive onto Route 22, said Lamey.

The driver of the Cruze had minor injuries but was stuck in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Finderne Fire Department, said Lamey.

The driver was turned over to EMS.

The roadway was shut down for about an hour and has since reopened.

The Bridgewater Police Department is investigating the accident.

The Finderne Fire Department, which covers the southeast section of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.

Volunteers are offered complete protective gear, free training, LOSAP (Length of Service Award Programs), a pay-per-call incentive, a life insurance/disability plan, and an in-house gym.
