Trapped Driver Rescued From Crushed Car In Route 22 Crash

The driver was issued summonses for reckless driving after cutting across two lanes of the highway in Bridgewater, police said.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Firefighters pried off a car door to rescue a trapped driver following a crash on Route 22 in Bridgewater on Friday afternoon.

On Feb. 4 at about noon, Jeanpierr Choueire, 34, of Somerset, was driving a Honda Accord in the right lane of Route 22 East near North Bridge Street, said Bridgewater Police Captain Sean O'Neill.

Choueire made an abrupt left turn across the center and left lanes of the highway and hit a Toyota Highlander in the left lane, said O'Neill.

The Highlander was being driven by Michael Dunne, 67, of Bernardsville, said O'Neill.

Green Knoll Fire Department performed a door pop to free the driver. Green Knoll, Martinsville, and Somerville Rescue Squad also helped with extraction and medical assistance.

Both drivers and a passenger were treated and they were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injures.

Choueire was issued summonses for reckless driving and failure to wear a seatbelt.
