Raritan Unregistered Car Dealer Charged With Theft By Deception: Cops

RARITAN, NJ — A Raritan man acting as a car dealer was charged and arrested on Monday, said Rairtan Police.

Andrew Glicklich, 47, of Raritan, was charged with theft by deception, exhibiting a fictitious insurance card, and deceptive business practices on March 25.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division. The investigation began on Nov. 2, 2023, when a Whitehouse Station woman purchased a car from Glicklich which immediately suffered numerous mechanical issues after being advised the vehicle had no mechanical issues, said police.

During the investigation, it was found that Glicklich was acting as an unregistered dealer and supplying buyers with fraudulent temporary registrations.

A subsequent and non-related motor vehicle stop in which a Monmouth Junction man was test-driving a vehicle being sold by Glicklich, found that Glicklich had a fraudulent insurance card and a fictitious license plate, said police.

Glicklich was served with a summons and provided with a future court appearance.

On March 23 at 6:04 p.m.: Raritan officers were dispatched to Gaston Avenue on a report of a man who appeared to be committing motor vehicle burglaries. Officers quickly located the man at Quick Chek on West Somerset Street, who was identified as Jesse Panyko, 40, no current address. Officers determined that Panyko did not burglarize any motor vehicles. However, Panyko was permanently trespassed from the Quick Chek. Panyko was placed under arrest for trespassing and later released pending a court appearance.

On March 25 at 7:32 p.m.: Raritan officers were dispatched to a business on First Avenue for a welfare check. A reporting party advised that a man was asleep in a BMW and there was a liquor bottle on the ground next to the car. As a result of the welfare check, Lloyd Reinhold, 51 of Philadelphia, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and refusal to submit a breath test. Reinhold was later released to a responsible party and a court appearance is pending.
