The county's 50th annual Thanksgiving Cook & Serve will take place on Sunday from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Bridgewater PeopleCare Center.

“The first Thanksgiving dinner was held in 1967 by the Somerville Youth Development Project, and some of those original volunteers are still involved with the event to this day," said Betty Krupka, a volunteer with SAFE and one of the lead organizers of the event. "It's a testament to their dedication—and the commitment of all our volunteers — that we have been able to continue this wonderful tradition for 50 years, and we hope to do so for at least 50 more!"

Volunteers are needed to prepare desserts on Saturday at the Vocational-Technical School, 14 Vogt Drive from 8 a.m. to noon and 12 to 4 p.m. On Sunday, volunteers will set up the PeopleCare Center, 120 Finderne Ave. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and then serve the meal from 1 to 4 p.m.
