Washington Valley Park Reopens Following Drowning

The Somerset County park located in Bridgewater was closed on Tuesday morning to allow authorities to search for a man who drowned Monday.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Washington Valley Park in Bridgewater has reopened on Wednesday afternoon, Somerset County Park Commission announced.

The park was closed on Tuesday at 8 a.m. to allow authorities to search for the body of a Somerville man who drowned on Monday.

The victim was identified as Michael Woskey, 37, of Somerville, Bridgewater Police Lt. Tom Rice said. Read More: Drowning Victim Found, Identified At Bridgewater Reservoir

At 3:05 pm. on Monday, Woskey jumped off one of the cliffs at Washington Valley Park and began to swim across the reservoir. While he was swimming he began to struggle, police said.

When his friends lost sight of him, they called 911 for help.

Woskey was later found on Tuesday around 1:40 p.m.

The park, located off Newmans Lane and Chimney Rock Road, is owned by Somerset County and the reservoir located inside.
