Brielle zoners review plan for electronic billboards (starnewsgroup.com) — Brielle’s zoning board is weighing two proposals for 110-foot electronic billboards on Ashley Avenue by the Route 35 bridge, drawing organized opposition from nearby business owners and residents. Hearings were opened May 12 and are expected to continue in June or July as applicants gather traffic and lighting data, while critics warn the massive LED signs could harm the riverfront’s small-town character.
   

2. Northern New Jersey Fishing Report- May 14, 2026 (onthewater.com) — Anglers around Brielle are seeing solid striped bass action out front, in the Manasquan River, and back in Barnegat Bay, though fluke remain sluggish in the chilly water. The Reel Seat in Brielle reports decent overall fishing but fewer people getting out, and expects sea bass to hold in deeper water when the season opens Friday. Nearby shops from Belmar to Seaside Park echo strong surf bass and slowly improving fluke.

New Jersey could ban flour additive already banned in other states and overseas (news12.com) — Brielle’s own Vinnie’s Pan Pizza has already dropped potassium bromate from its dough, anticipating a possible New Jersey ban on the flour additive tied to cancer concerns. Local and statewide pizza and bagel shops may face longer rise times, higher labor costs, and recipe changes if the bill to prohibit the additive in commercial food and school lunches advances.
