3 Republican Lawmakers With Essex County Ties Kick Off New Terms
Sen. Kristin Corrado and Assembly members Christopher DePhillips and Al Barlas emerged victorious last year in the 40th District.
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A trio of Republican lawmakers who represent several towns in Essex County have officially kicked off their new terms in the New Jersey Legislature.
Earlier this week, Sen. Kristin Corrado, and Assembly members Christopher DePhillips and Al Barlas were sworn in to office in the 40th District, which includes the Essex County towns of Caldwell, Essex Fells, Fairfield, North Caldwell, Verona and West Caldwell.

While Corrado and DePhillips are each veterans of the Legislature, Barlas – who has served as Essex County GOP chair for nearly a decade – will be among the new lawmakers setting foot in Trenton this year.
New Jersey Assembly Republicans will have 28 members in the 221st legislative session.
