After Crashing Into 2 Cars In Parking Lot, West Caldwell Man Gets Heroin Charge (VIDEO)
The Verona police posted video of a Mercedes SUV crashing into two different cars in a parking lot. They charged a West Caldwell resident.
WEST CALDWELL, NJ — A 41-year-old West Caldwell resident was charged with driving under the influence on Saturday after — as captured on video — he sideswiped a car while entering a small parking lot, then hit another.
The Verona police posted this video on Facebook showing the Mercedes SUV entering the parking lot on Park Place around 1:30 p.m. Police said they got "numerous" 911 calls about the crashes.
Police said, "After further investigation, a 41-year-old male out of West Caldwell was placed under arrest and charged with the eight motor vehicle summonses, including Driving Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs (DUI). He was also found to be in possession of heroin and charged accordingly."

A woman commented, "Thanks to the VPD officers for your amazing work. It's a miracle no one was killed or injured. There are always locals walking around, or standing around chatting in our lot. It's a bit of a hub where everyone knows everyone."

The police credited Investigating Officer Pami as well as Officer Ruff, a drug recognition expert, Sgt. Juliano, who supervised, and officers Desomma, Kirby, and Barone who conducted the crash investigation.
