Families and individuals in the community are invited to take part in the annual Advent Festival at the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell on Sunday, December 3. This free event will begin at 2:00pm in the church’s Fellowship Hall. It is not necessary to be a church member to attend; the only requirement is a desire to get in the Christmas spirit.
Fifteen different craft stations will be available for participants to make Christmas ornaments and decorations for their homes, with projects ranging from easy to advanced. Friendly helpers will be at each table for anyone needing advice or assistance. Our church volunteers do the work of obtaining and organizing the materials for your craft making, and all supplies for the event are provided at no cost. In keeping with the church’s participation in the GreenFaith program, recycled materials have been chosen where possible.
All of the crafts for this year’s event are new, except for the long-standing favorite craft of icing and decorating sugar cookies. Our projects this year range in scope from a lighted snowman to a unique spoon ornament to angel earrings.

Families with children are welcome to use this opportunity to open the Advent/Christmas season together, but many of the crafts are suitable and enjoyable for adult individuals, too. After participants have made as many crafts as possible in the allotted two hours, the festival will end with a brief devotional time noting the First Sunday of Advent, along with a short carol sing.
Intended as a Christmas gift from the church to the community, the Advent Festival is provided at no cost. However, participants are encouraged to bring canned goods or staple food items for the local food pantry so that our time together may become a gift to others, too.
