Caldwell College Plans 5K Run/Walk for Autism

April 11 event to assist with college's construction of new autism center.

Caldwell College will host a 5K Run/Walk for autism on Sunday, April 11. The run is a USATF-certified course through the town of Essex Fells and a 500-point N.J. Grand Prix event.

A one-mile Fun Run/Walk for adults and children will also take place and entertainment and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome to run/walk or to sponsor a runner or walker. Proceeds will benefit construction of the college's new autism center, due to open in fall 2010. 

News 12 anchor/talk show host Della Crews will kick off the 5K run/walk on the Caldwell College campus at 8:30 a.m.  Registration opens at 7:30 a.m.  The fun run/walk around campus will begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony at 10:15 a.m. Awards will be given to top finishers in each age category, as well as to all children who participate in the fun run/walk. All runners will receive a T-shirt and goody bag.

Between 9 a.m, and 12:30 p.m., spectators and participants can enjoy refreshments, a bounce house, music and vendor exhibits. Members of the Caldwell College ABA faculty will also be on hand to represent the autism center, a state-of-the-art facility that will serve the needs of hundreds of individuals with autism and help them and their families lead more satisfying and productive lives.
