Caldwell Man Charged With Glen Ridge Home Burglary
Glen Ridge police arrested a Caldwell man accused of burglarizing a Douglas Road home.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — The Glen Ridge Police Department has arrested a Caldwell man accused of burglarizing a Douglas Road home earlier this month.
On Wednesday, Glen Ridge police announced that its detectives charged Rathny Barquero, 22, of Caldwell, with burglary, criminal mischief and theft in connection with the Dec. 13 incident.
Police said that officers responded to a Douglas Road home around 3:30 p.m. after receiving information about a possible burglary in progress. Once on the scene, officers determined that the suspect had forced entry by breaking a pane of glass next to the front door and reaching in to unlock the door.

The suspect then entered the residence and ransacked the master bedroom, stealing several items, police said.
Following an investigation, Glen Ridge police detectives identified Barquero as a suspect in the case. Police then executed a search warrant at Barquero’s home in search of the stolen proceeds, but he wasn’t present at the time, authorities said.

Following a continued search, police arrested Barquero on Dec. 23. He is currently being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.
Glen Ridge police said the following agencies lent assistance with identifying Barquero: NJ State Police, Bloomfield Police Department, Kearny Police Department, Caldwell Police Department.
