Caldwell Paves Way For Park At Personette Street

A new park is shaping up in Caldwell.

On Oct. 24, the Caldwell Environmental Commission sponsored a “Paver Day” at the open space property on Personette Street in Caldwell.

During the event, commission members and 31 Home Depot volunteers from the Montville, Clifton, Secaucus, East Hanover and Parsippany stores laid down permeable pavers at the proposed site of the Personette Street garden.

According to a release, the project was a Team Home Depot event, and the borough received a $1,500 grant from the Home Depot Foundation.

Additional volunteers and participants included the Environmentally Friendly Club of Caldwell University, representatives from the Caldwell Council and Caldwell Mayor Ann Dassing, a release stated.

Volunteers also planted five native trees on the property: a pawpaw, two different species of redbud (Rising Sun and Forest Pansy), a dogwood, and a serviceberry.

The trees were purchased with the grant from ANJEC, and are all pollinators, according to a release.

Jack’s Foodtown donated water and a gift card for refreshments, a release stated.
