Caldwell Rotary Club Gets Glimpse Into Peace Corps Life

Peace Corps volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds, regional director Dan Taurkel told the Caldwell Rotary Club.

CALDWELL, NJ — The Rotary Club of Caldwell got an inner glimpse into the life of a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer during a recent visit from one of the iconic organization’s regional directors.

On Sept. 18, Dan Taurkel, a regional director with the Peace Corps, addressed the Rotary Club members, explaining the working of the Corps and his job as a recruiter. Taurkel told the club that the Peace Corps is often considered “life-defining” by the more than 220,000 U.S. citizens who have served.

Peace Corps volunteers come from all kinds of backgrounds, reflecting the rich diversity of the United States—some are just out of college, while others are mid-career or retired, Taurkel said.
