Caldwell University Classes Canceled; Essex County Now Under Flood Warning

Caldwell University canceled classes and student activities due to the nor'easter Tuesday. A flood warning is in effect for Essex County.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — After Gov. Phil Murphy declared a state of emergency in New Jersey Monday night in anticipation of 2-4 inches of rain falling during the nor'easter, Caldwell University announced it would cancel all classes and student activities Tuesday.

"Due to the NJ state of emergency and potential flooding, all Tuesday, classes and campus activities are cancelled and administrative offices will be closed," said a note on the website Monday.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the area until 2 p.m. and extended its flash flood watch for Essex, Hudson, Passaic, Union counties through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
