Caldwell Woman Dies In 2-Car Crash

CALDWELL, NJ — A Caldwell woman, 70, succumbed to her injuries after she was involved in a two-car crash in Roseland on Monday, officials said.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Roseland Acting Police Director John Matheis said that Christine Perrella died following a crash at 101 Eisenhower Parkway.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Crime Scene Investigations Bureau (CSIB) was notified by Roseland police on Jan. 9 at 12:11 p.m. about the collision, prosecutors said. Perrella, who was driving one of the vehicles, was taken to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston but succumbed to her injuries.

At this time, no charges have been filed, prosecutors said. A source said the other driver in the crash was not charged.

Perrella was described in her obituary as "a loyal and caring person and her laughter always filled the room. Nothing was more important to her than her family and friends. She most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren." Services are being held this Sunday and Monday.

The prosecutor's office did not release further details, but said the investigation is ongoing.
