ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Are you an Essex County resident looking to make your voice heard on Capitol Hill?

On Wednesday, April 5, the New Jersey’s BlueWaveNJ and NJ 11th For Change will lead a coalition of Garden State residents on a trip to Washington D.C. to visit their elected officials while they’re in-session and support “progressive” issues such as healthcare, the environment, immigrants' rights and Constitutional rights.

With an expected crowd of hundreds, the group stated that they plan meet with U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker, as well as U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone (D-6), William Pascrell (D-9) and Donald Payne Jr. (D-10).

The day will conclude with a rally on the steps of the U.S. Capitol, organizers said.

The groups are organizing a bus trip for interested participants with departures from Montclair, Morristown and Red Bank at 7 a.m. on April 5, with an expected late-morning arrival in Washington D.C.

Bus tickets are $60 per person and $30 for students. A limited number of discount tickets and donated seats are available for seniors and volunteers with financial need, organizers stated.

Participants were asked to come prepared with personal messages for their elected officials.

“We’re asking everyone to bring postcards with their own messages for their representatives, and to bring postcards from those who can't make it so we can hand-deliver them,” said Debra Caplan of NJ 11th for Change. “We hope we’ll have a large stack to deliver.”
