Charging Station In Caldwell After Widespread Outages: 5/17

In need of a charge in Caldwell? Here's where to get some power on Thursday.

CALDWELL, NJ — In need of a charge in Caldwell after Tuesday’s storm and resulting power outages? There’s a place to go to get some juice: the Caldwell Community Center.

On Thursday at 11:20 a.m., the Caldwell Police Department issued the following advisory:

“With some storm related power outages still in Caldwell, the Caldwell Community Center will host a charging station until 6 p.m. [Thursday] if anyone needs assistance. PSE&G is currently on site at the different problem areas working to restore power to every location. We thank you in advance for your continued patience, and please continue to use caution around any downed power lines.”

Power outages were still being reported across the Caldwells on Wednesday morning after a heavy storm hit the Essex County area the previous night.

According to poweroutage.us, 3,220 out of 337,962 PSE&G customers in Essex County were still without power as of Wednesday morning.

As of Wednesday morning, PSE&G's outage map reported the following issues near these roadways:

  • Academy Road and Thomas Street - 41 customers affected
  • Westville Avenue (between Thomas and Elizabeth streets) – 498 affected
  • Leaycraft Lane and Cleveland Road – 91 affected
  • Bowers Road (between Knollwood Terrace and Brookside Avenue) – 137 affected
  • Beekman Hill Road and Ashland Street – 45 customers affected

The Caldwell Police Department issued the following advisory on Tuesday night:

"Please stay in your homes and do not touch any downed wires as they may be live. PSE&G has been contacted and is on their way to make repairs. Please do not go around any barricades, police tape, or traffic cones as they are in place for your safety. Thank you and stay safe."
