Power Still Out In The Caldwells After Heavy Storm
Power outages were still being reported across the Caldwells on Wednesday morning after a heavy storm hit the Essex County area.

CALDWELLS, NJ — Power outages were still being reported across the Caldwells on Wednesday morning after a heavy storm hit the Essex County area the previous night.
According to poweroutage.us, 3,220 out of 337,962 PSE&G customers in Essex County were still without power as of Wednesday morning.
As of Wednesday morning, PSE&G’s outage map reported the following issues near these roadways:

- Academy Road and Thomas Street - 41 customers affected
- Westville Avenue (between Thomas and Elizabeth streets) – 498 affected
- Leaycraft Lane and Cleveland Road – 91 affected
- Bowers Road (between Knollwood Terrace and Brookside Avenue) – 137 affected
- Beekman Hill Road and Ashland Street – 45 customers affected
In West Caldwell, officials held a delayed opening at Jefferson Elementary and Grover Cleveland Middle schools on Wednesday morning.
The Caldwell Police Department issued the following advisory on Tuesday night:

"Please stay in your homes and do not touch any downed wires as they may be live. PSE&G has been contacted and is on their way to make repairs. Please do not go around any barricades, police tape, or traffic cones as they are in place for your safety. Thank you and stay safe."

A severe thunderstorm warning was declared for eight counties in the state until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, including Essex. Forecasters with the National Weather Service called for flash flooding, strong winds and large hail.

In Essex County, several towns reported downed wires and closed roads including Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Maplewood, Montclair and Verona.
