COVID-19 Test Events In The Caldwells: Updated Death, Case Totals

Free coronavirus test events will take place in North and West Caldwell. See updated local case/death totals.

CALDWELLS, NJ — Free coronavirus test events will take place in West Caldwell on Thursday, Oct. 1 and in North Caldwell on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

The tests – which are open to all Essex County residents – are being held by the county, which has been running an ongoing series of local events (see more information below).

As of Thursday, here are the latest COVID-19 case and death totals for the Caldwells, according to county officials:

  • Caldwell – 135 cases, 11 deaths
  • North Caldwell – 59 cases, 4 deaths
  • West Caldwell – 302 cases, 48 deaths

A testing event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Westville Avenue Pool, 293 Westville Avenue in West Caldwell.

Another event will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 141 Gould Avenue in North Caldwell.

Here’s how they will work, according to county officials:

“Essex County residents with or without symptoms are encouraged to get tested. Residents age 8 years and older are welcome to get tested. Residents are encouraged to get retested if they have taken the swab or saliva tests 14 days ago or more and have received negative test results. Testing is provided free of charge; health insurance is not required. To make an appointment, residents should visit www.EssexCOVID.org or call 973-877-8456. They will be required to complete a short questionnaire. When finished, they will be provided with an appointment time and a confirmation number. Residents should bring the confirmation number with them. They are asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled appointment. Residents taking the COVID-19 saliva test should not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum 30 minutes prior to arrival.”
