Essex County Strike Team Helps With Snow Emergency Efforts

Agencies included the West Essex First Aid Squad and the Montclair State University EMS.

The Essex County Strike Team has struck again.

Following a weekend snowstorm that left around two feet of snow in the area, multiple emergency response agencies in Essex County reported that they lent a hand to their neighbors.

“Between Friday night at midnight to Sunday at 6 p.m., [we] responded to 19 calls in the West Essex Area and an additional eight calls in Newark,” the West Essex First Aid Squad stated.

“The MSU EMS was requested to deploy to assist the city of Newark, alongside four other agencies as part of the Essex County Strike Team, to help with their backlog of calls due to winter storm Jonas this past weekend,” staff wrote on a Monday Facebook post.

“It was a pleasure to work alongside such dedicated groups of EMS providers… Great job Lt. Melnicove, Resident EMT Jen Kalash, and Resident EMT Mike Orokos from MSU EMS, as well as to all the providers who braved the storm to provide necessary care.”
