Georgia O. Nelson, 85
Services were held on May 25 at the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell.

Georgia Jacobsen Nelson, 85, of North Caldwell, affectionately known as “Toots,” died quietly in her home on Monday, May 21, 2012.
Georgia was born on September 23, 1926 in the Bronx, the daughter of LCDR Charles Reginald Jacobsen, USN and Gladys Deibert Jacobsen. She graduated from New Dorp High School, Staten Island in 1944.
After high school, she worked in New York City where she met her husband, Dick. They were married on October 31, 1953 and three years later they moved to North Caldwell. After taking time off to raise her family, she was employed by the Essex County Blood Bank and Ricoh Corporation, where she retired from in 1990. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell and the U.S. Navy Memorial.

Georgia was a wonderful wife and mother who enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a gifted painter, loved her dogs and enjoyed hosting parties for friends and family to celebrate just about anything. She called everyone “Sugar Plum” and “Sweetheart”.
She is survived by her husband of almost 59 years, Richard J. Nelson; son Guyon W. Nelson of West Caldwell, his wife Marianne and their children James, Elizabeth and Georgie and son Richard O. Nelson, MD of New Providence, his wife Jody and their children Richard Jr., Sarah, Julia and Russell. She was predeceased by her parents and sister; Louise Virginia Jacobsen.

Services were held on May 25 at the . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Essex First Aid Squad or the Wounded Warrior Project.
