Roseland Church Celebrates Greek Culture [Photos]

Ss Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church holds first annual Greek Fest.

Thousands of area residents visited Ss Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Roseland this weekend for the church's first annual Greek Fest.

The three-day festival marked the first anniversary of the church which united members of Saint Nicholas of Newark, the oldest Greek Orthodox congregation in New Jersey, and Ss. Constantine and Helen of Orange.

The church complex at 80 Laurel Avenue North in Roseland was created to serve parishioners who moved out of cities and into suburbs in Essex, Morris and Passaic counties.

From Friday through Sunday this past weekend, festival goers were treated to music, dancing, tours of the church, and, of course, many Greek specialties.

Richard Gibbs of Essex Fells said he enjoyed his meal so much Friday night that he bought more to take home and returned Saturday.

"We went back last night and picked up dinner to go! Will definitely go again next year!" Gibbs said.
