How Much State School Aid For The Caldwells? NJ Releases Latest Totals

Experts say that a decrease in school aid – or even a flat number – can trigger an increase in property taxes for a town's homeowners.

CALDWELLS, NJ — Each of the three school districts in the Caldwells are in line to get an increase in funding under the latest state budget.

Gov. Mikie Sherrill's first proposed budget includes $12.4 billion for aid to the state's 574 public school districts. The Caldwell-West Caldwell School District is in line to get $3,858,861 in state aid, up 1.82 percent from last year’s $3,789,750.

The North Caldwell School District is in line to get $1,205,508 in state aid, up 6 percent from last year’s $1,137,272.

The West Essex Regional School District is in line to get $3,435,079 in state aid, up 6 percent from last year’s $3,240,640.
