The Jitney To The Train Comes to Caldwell

Caldwell Jitney is now available starting Monday, October 9th 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. from the Smull Avenue Municipal Lot Monday through Friday

Starting this Monday, October 9th, commuters can now take a jitney to the Bay Street Station in Montclair Monday through Friday starting from the Smull Avenue Municipal Lot at 6 a.m and 7 a.m (more buses will be added as demand increases).
The bus will pick up and leave Bay Street Station, Montclair, at 6:15 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost of the jitney is $3.50 each way. Cash is the accepted payment method until the company installs a payment method.
The Smull Avenue Municipal Parking lot requires permit parking at $45 a quarter (commuter rate). However, for the first week, October 9th through the 13th, parking will be FREE until you secure a parking permit through the Caldwell Police Department at Provost Square, Caldwell. For the launch between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. there will be coffee and donuts at the Smull Avenue Parking Lot (behind the Caldwell Movie Theatre).
This is a pilot program spearheaded by Robert and Sandra Bolcar of the The Bolcar Team (local realtors with Keller Williams NJ Metro Group) with the help of Mayor Dassing to get the jitney up and running. A private limousine company with DOT-approved and insured luxury limousines will be running two 24-seater buses to start and adding more as demand increases. If you are a commuter to Penn Station, NYC, please commit to making this program a success.
