Live Wires Burn During Caldwell Area Auto Lot Fire: PHOTOS

Fire crews had to wait for the power company to kill the juice before extinguishing efforts could continue, reports say.

Fairfield, NJ – A multi-vehicle blaze at Skyland Auto Auction in Essex County set fire to live wires and torched several cars on Wednesday morning, according to reports.

The Fairfield Fire Department reported that when firefighters arrived at the car dealership, located on Route 46, multiple cars were burning and live wires were on the vehicles.

The FFD called the Pine Brook and North Caldwell fire departments for mutual aid.

NorthJersey Fire News reported that 12 cars were involved and that fire crews had to wait for the power company to arrive and kill the electricity before extinguishing efforts could continue.

Another massive fire involving multiple vehicles took place at the car lot in October which destroyed 20 cars, most of which were returned leases about to go up for auction.
