INTENSIVE THERAPEUTICS RECEIVES $4,000 GRANT FROM MONTCLAIR FOUNDATION

West Caldwell, NJ, December 29th, 2016 – Montclair Foundation has recently awarded a $4000 grant to Intensive Therapeutics to assist in the purchase of a LiteGait system. The LiteGait is a suspension system that can lift the child slightly as they walk over a treadmill, as to unweight their legs from their full body weight. This suspension allows the child to learn to use their affected leg for walking with less stress on their joints when learning to walk with a more normal walking pattern. The Gait Sense is a system where the sensors are embedded into a treadmill belt while a child wears small sensors around their ankle. The feedback provided from the system is displayed on a tablet to allow for visual feedback to the therapist and the child to allow for assistance in correcting the walking pattern.

Intensive Therapeutics is non-profit therapy center for children with special needs with two locations, West Caldwell and Fanwood, NJ., that provide therapy services (occupational, physical and speech therapy) to families in the Montclair and Essex County area.

We are a small, grass-roots organization supporting children with special needs in NJ. It is amazing to me to see the support we received from so many people to receive this grant,” said Scott Matthews, Executive Director. “This is such a wonderful opportunity for us to further the services we provide to the children with special needs, so they can develop the skills necessary to walk, play and run in their own communities and neighborhoods.”
