The North Caldwell Board of Education began the new year with a nod to a seven-year veteran member: Valerie Buccino.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — The North Caldwell Board of Education began the new year with a nod to a seven-year veteran member: Valerie Buccino.

According to a district newsletter, Buccino was recognized for her service during the North Caldwell BOE’s Jan. 2 reorganization meeting. Here’s what district administrators had to say about Buccino:

“Throughout her time as a board member, Valerie served on various committees, developed procedures to maintain a safe environment at school, maintained a positive school climate during labor relation issues, and helped make important changes in our schools (including construction of the Gould Library and Art Room, the Gould courtyard, re-roofing of Gould School, Gould window project and security enhancements at both schools). Thank you, Valerie for your unselfish service to the schools and children of North Caldwell! Our community has benefited from your leadership and contributions to the Board of Education.”

During the Jan. 2 meeting, Jordan Shumofsky was welcomed as a newly elected board member. Jordan and Mary Mokris (who was re-elected for a second term) took the Oath of Office. Robert Projansky was re-elected as board president, and Mary Mokris was elected as the vice president.
