North Caldwell Cops Stop Burglary In Process, Find Magnum Handgun: Report

North Caldwell police arrested three Essex County residents after allegedly catching them in the act of burglarizing a Windridge Drive home.

NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — North Caldwell police arrested three Essex County residents after allegedly catching them in the act of burglarizing a Windridge Drive home last month, a report says.

A North Caldwell officer allegedly came across Milton Brown, 22, of Belleville, Devine Crute, 22, of Newark and Stephanie Odige, 23, of East Orange, as they tried to put a 75-inch television stolen from a nearby home into the back seat of their car on Dec. 23, NewJerseyHills.com reported.

As an officer approached the three, he allegedly saw one of the suspects attempt to conceal an object – later found to be a .357 magnum handgun - under the car, police stated.

After backup arrived on the scene, the pair of officers arrested the three suspects without further incident, police said.

Authorities stated that the three suspects allegedly entered the home through an unlocked first floor window while the residents were inside sleeping, and that they planned to reenter the home before police stopped them, NewJerseyHills.com reported.
