North Caldwell Cops, Teen Save Drowning Child: Authorities
Working together, North Caldwell police and a teenager saved a 5-year-old child's life after he nearly drowned in a pool.
NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — Quick thinking and teamwork recently helped to save a 5-year-old child’s life in North Caldwell after he nearly drowned in a pool, authorities said.
Police responded to the scene of the life-threatening incident at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. When officers arrived, a nearby teenager had pulled the child from the pool, authorities said.
The officers immediately started to perform CPR on the child, successfully restarting his heart. Emergency responders then rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment, authorities said.

“The department commends these officers whose quick thinking and teamwork were able to save a child’s life,” North Caldwell police said.
The incident got a hearty congratulations online, including from their peers in Verona and Fairfield.

“Great job NCPD,” the Verona Police Department concurred.
