In North Caldwell: Schools Celebrate 'Take Your Child to Work Day'

Staff members give their kids a glimpse into what mommy and daddy do for a living.

Staff members in the West Essex Regional Schools observed “Take Your Child to Work Day” on April 23, treating their children to special activities at the high school and middle school.

The educational day featured activities and lessons that had students conducting science experiments, painting, making homemade pizza and playing games in the gymnasiums.

  • Evangelina Minnella, 8, of North Caldwell, said she loves spending the day with her parents, who both work in the health and physical education department. “I really like that I get to be with my parents and see all the students and enjoy science experiments.”
  • Megan Gupta, 11, of Lincoln Park, said she loved the science activities where she made a bouncy ball from glue, borax and food coloring. “Science is fun because you get to get your hands dirty.”
  • Evangelina and Kira Symmons, 8, of Lincoln Park, rolled out pizza dough in a culinary class to make their own pizza. “I really like the cooking class,” said Kira, daughter of West Essex Director of Special Services Tania Symmons.
  • “I like the West Essex Knights,” said Joelle Ricafort, 6, of Denville, the daughter of Science Supervisor Elizabeth Ricafort.
