Caldwells Traffic Alert: Avoid Mountain, Smull, Forest Avenues On Dec. 3

CALDWELL, NJ — Police in the Caldwells say that it’s a good idea to avoid Mountain and Smull Avenues in North Caldwell, and Forest Avenue in Caldwell on Dec. 3 due to the annual Trinity Academy 5k Reindeer Run.

North Caldwell police issued the following advisory on Thursday evening:

“Avoid Mountain Avenue southbound on Dec. 3 from 8 to 11 a.m. The roadway will be closed to southbound traffic between Gould Ave. and Forest Ave. to accommodate the Trinity Academy 5k Reindeer Run. Smull Avenue will also be closed to traffic between Hickory Drive and Mountain Avenue. Mountain Avenue detours will affect Windridge, Fox Run, Lilac, Roosevelt and White Oak. Smull Avenue detours will affect Soder, Stony Brook, Dogwood and Winding Way.”

North Caldwell police advised commuters to plan alternate routes using Central Avenue to get through town and avoid detours.

Meanwhile, Caldwell police released a traffic advisory that stated Forest Avenue will be closed from Bloomfield Avenue to the Caldwell township line between the hours of 7:30 and 11 a.m. on Dec. 3 due to the event.

"No vehicular access will be allowed onto Forest Avenue from any side street for the entire length of Forest Avenue between the same hours," Caldwell police stated. "Certain areas of Hatfield Street, Smull Avenue, Personnette Street and all of Forest Avenue will be posted 'No Parking' for the 5K run. In addition, vehicular travel on Kirkwood Place will be allowed both ways for residential access. There will be posted 'No Parking' on Kirkwood Place for the entire street."

Caldwell police added:

"We are also requesting the residents of Forest Avenue use extra caution and due diligence when exiting their driveways during the times mentioned above."
