CALDWELLS, NJ — Residents of the Caldwells hit the voting booths on Tuesday, Nov. 6 to make their voices heard in the 2018 General Election. Polls were open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

CALDWELL-WEST CALDWELL SCHOOL DISTRICT RESULTS

Residents who live in the Caldwell-West Caldwell Public School District elected two Board of Education members and voted on a ballot question that will fund a full-day kindergarten program.
Caldwell-West Caldwell BOE Candidates (2 seats, 3-year-term)

With 16 of 16 districts reporting, Julianne Grosso and Christopher D'Ambola emerged victorious on Tuesday, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office:
- Julianne Grosso - 4812 (48.64%)
- Christopher D'Ambola - 2896 (29.27%)
- Thomas D. Adams - 2142 (21.65%)
Caldwell-West Caldwell Ballot Question: Full-Day Kindergarten
Residents in the Caldwell-West Caldwell School District also approved a ballot question that will fund a "full-day experience" for local kindergarten students starting in September 2019.
With 16 out of 16 districts reporting, here's how voters lined up on the issue, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office:
- YES - 3742 (53.66%)
- NO - 3232 (46.34%)
The question reads:
"There shall be raised an additional $600,000 for General Funds in the 2018-19 School Year. These taxes will be used to employ additional personnel and to acquire additional supplies in order to implement a full-day kindergarten program. Approval of these taxes will result in a permanent increase in the district's tax levy. The additional taxes authorized herein will be used exclusively for purposes described herein and to finance expenditures that are in addition to those necessary to achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards."

CALDWELL ELECTION RESULTS
Mayor Candidates (1 seat, 4-year term)
With 7 out of 7 districts reporting, Democrat John T. Kelley emerged victorious in Caldwell's mayoral race, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.
- John T. Kelley (Democrat) - 1306 (52.03%)
- Ann Dassing (Republican) 1203 (47.93%)
Borough Council Candidates (2 seats, 3-year-term)
With 7 out of 7 district reporting, Democrats Francis X. Rodgers III and Christine V. Schmidt captured Borough Council seats in Caldwell, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.
- Francis X. Rodgers III (Democrat) -1358 (28.54%)
- Christine V. Schmidt (Democrat) -1298 (27.27%)
- Richard Hauser (Republican) -1114 (23.41%)
- Jason Fiore (Republican) - 986 (20.72%)
NORTH CALDWELL ELECTION RESULTS
Mayor Candidates (1 seat, 4-year term)
With 4 of 4 districts reporting, Joseph H. Alessi emerged victorious over Richard J. Verde in the North Caldwell mayoral race, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.
- Joseph H. Alessi (Republican) - 1163 (70.66%)
- Richard J. Verde (For All North Caldwell Residents) - 479 (29.10%)
Borough Council (2 seats, 3-year term)
With 4 of 4 districts reporting, Francis X. Astorino and Robert C. Kessler Jr. will serve on the North Caldwell Borough Council, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.
- Francis X. Astorino (Republican) -1221 (50.37%)
- Robert C. Kessler Jr. (Republican) -1196 (49.34%)
North Caldwell Board of Education (2 seats, 3-year term)
With 4 of 4 districts reporting, Mindy Opper and Matthew J. Atlas will serve on the North Caldwell Board of Education, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office.
- Mindy Opper -957 (48.78%)
- Matthew J. Atlas - 1000 (50.97%)
WEST CALDWELL ELECTION RESULTS
West Caldwell Mayor (1 seat, 4-year term)
With 9 of 9 districts reporting, here are the unofficial results, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office:
- Joseph Tempesta Jr. (Republican) - 3093 (99.13%)
- Write-In - 27 (0.87%)
West Caldwell Town Council (2 seats, 3-year term)
With 9 of 9 districts reporting, here are the unofficial results, according to the Essex County Clerk's Office:
- Stanley W. Hladik (Republican) -2880 (52.06%)
- Michael Crudele (Republican) -2625 (47.45%)
