Report: West Caldwell Attracting Young Families with Affordable Housing Prices

Is West Caldwell becoming one of the up-and-coming destinations for young families to live?
According to a recent Wall Street Journal report, the Essex County municipality is attracting many younger families with its “relatively affordable prices for single-family houses.”
Local real estate offerings include prewar Colonials to newer ranches, split-levels and Cape Cod-style houses.

According to the report:
“Demand is high and inventory relatively low, brokers say. The average sale price in 2014 was $457,000; for the month of March, it was $491,000.”

Lorraine Hurlbut, a representative with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, told the WSJ:
“The Caldwells are very, very desirable… Even though we have a commercial [strip] through the center of town, we have wonderful park areas…there’s boating, fishing, bird-watching, walking trails.”
