Small Fire At West Caldwell ShopRite Causes Evacuation: Report

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Staff at the ShopRite in West Caldwell evacuated the grocery store after a small electrical fire took place on Thursday morning, a report says.

The store’s general manager told TAP Into West Essex that everyone in the store was evacuated when a compressor caught fire as an electrician was performing maintenance to a seafood case.

The fire was already extinguished when the West Caldwell Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene, officials said.

Nobody was injured during the incident, authorities said.
