Stephen Santola of Woodmont Properties Receives Impact Award
Woodmont Properties EVP and General Counsel Stephen Santola Honored with New Jersey Law Journal's General Counsel Impact Award

FAIRFIELD, N.J. (July 25, 2018) – Woodmont Properties today announced that Executive Vice President and General Counsel Stephen Santola has been honored with New Jersey Law Journal’s 2018 General Counsel Impact Award, which recognizes New Jersey’s top general counsels for their significant work and accomplishments in 2017.
In 2017, Santola led several new initiatives for Woodmont Properties including the entrance into recreational real estate through the purchase of two country clubs and a tennis club in New Jersey, both complex transactions that required financing swaps and assignments, governmental approvals, preexisting liabilities and membership consents. Additionally, Santola played an active role in Woodmont’s growth in the industrial sector, assisting in the trading of over 3 million square feet throughout the Northeast during the year.
“Being able to adapt and manage such a rapidly growing enterprise has been new terrain for my team and me,” said Santola. “One of the aspects of my position that I enjoy most is that no two days are alike. With the incredible growth we are experiencing – both on the residential and industrial side of our business – there are always new and interesting challenges that we can tackle firsthand.”

Earlier this year, Santola also played a critical role in Woodmont’s expansion into the Southeast region with the acquisition of a 519,045-square-foot distribution center in Morrow, Georgia. The building is located within the Atlanta South submarket, along Interstate 75, one of the main arteries surrounding the Atlanta Metropolitan area.
Santola added: “I think any general counsel will tell you, the position has evolved over the last 15 years to require input and impact well beyond the law. My legal department’s contributions touch every aspect of our corporate growth strategy, including elements as diverse as partnership and investor structure, deal analysis and corporate marketing.”
