Student Assaults Teacher, 2 Staff Members In West Caldwell: PD

A student at Essex Valley School in West Caldwell assaulted a teacher, then injured 2 other staff members who intervened, police said.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — A student at the Essex Valley School in West Caldwell was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly injured staff members earlier this week, authorities said.

According to the West Caldwell Police Department, officers responded to the school around 11:04 a.m. on Wednesday, which is located at 1 Henderson Drive.

A 13-year-old student at the school assaulted a teacher, then injured two other staff members who intervened, police said.

Officers arrested the student, charged her with three counts of aggravated assault and transported her to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Facility in Newark.

The staff member that was initially assaulted was transported to Mountainside Hospital for treatment for her injuries, police said.
