University Women of West Essex Welcomes New Members

UWWE is a group of approximately 75 educated women who come together for academic scholarship, education & social pursuits. The main goal of the organization is to offer scholarships to women of all ages who need financial assistance in procuring their undergraduate degrees from an accredited U.S. college/university.

Once a month, UWWE meets at the West Caldwell Library for a stimulating program. For example, some of our past speakers have spoken about the United Nations, How Language Informs Perception, Affordable Health Care & Heroes of the Holocaust. We have had authors speak about their books of fiction, non-fiction & poetry. We have enjoyed musical programs, the League of Women Voters & many more diverse subjects.

Starting in September, we hold a Buffet Dinner for all members. This is an enjoyable social evening with good food & conversation. We end the year with our Annual May Dinner which has been held at several different County Clubs. There we meet our High School and Mature Women Scholarship Recipients and give out awards.

UWWE has many outside activities. The money earned from these events goes to our two Scholarship Funds for high school graduates & mature women. Our activities: Book Groups, Cultural trips, Mah-jongg, Round Robin Bridge, Theater Parties, Luncheons & Fundraisers.

Membership Eligibility
A graduate holding a baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited U.S. college/university, or a foreign degree acceptable as a basis for admission by graduate schools in the United States of America. A Guest Affiliate may have two years at an accredited U.S. college/university or a professional status, & must be sponsored by a UWWE member.
Membership Dues: $50.00
Associate: $40.00
