West Caldwell FD: Fake Charity Asking For Donations In Our Name
There has been another report of a fake charity donation scheme in the Caldwells, the second in as many years.

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — There has been another report of a fake charity donation campaign in the Caldwells, the second in as many years. The victim? The West Caldwell Fire Department.
On Thursday, the WCFD issued an alert on its Facebook page about an alleged fake donation scheme being perpetrated in its name.

“It has come to our attention that there is an organization soliciting donations by phone and representing that those donations benefit the West Caldwell Fire Department. The West Caldwell Fire Department never solicits donations by phone. If you receive such a phone solicitation, please be aware that none of your contribution will benefit your local fire department. The West Caldwell Volunteer Firemen's Association does run an annual fund drive, but it is always through the mail.”

In October, the Caldwell-West Caldwell Public School District issued an alert about a possible donation scam perpetrated by "young people" in the area.

The children allegedly told homeowners that their donations were for a school fundraiser, and that the middle school was trying to raise money for technology, CWC Superintendent James Heinegg said.
