West Caldwell Sees Multiple Fake ‘IRS’ Scam Calls: Police
West Caldwell Police: "The Internal Revenue Service will NOT call your phone to notify you that you owe money."

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — If you get a call from someone who claims to be with the IRS and asks for money, it might be a good idea to take a step back… you might be a scam victim, West Caldwell police said.
On Friday, the West Caldwell Police Department alerted local residents about a potential IRS scam making its rounds through the township:
“We have been notified of multiple IRS telephone scams today in our area. The Internal Revenue Service will NOT call your phone to notify you that you owe money. DO NOT provide anyone with information over the telephone. Please share this post and warn elderly family members and neighbors who are targets of these scams.”
