West Essex Middle School Spanish Students Participate in Poetry Summit
Students communicate with others via Google Hangout.
West Essex Middle School Spanish Teacher Raquel Williams always finds a way to inspire her students.
When she learned about a Poetry Summit, featuring poets and schools around the country reciting poetry, she thought it would be fun for her Spanish students to share Spanish poetry.
So her students, along with students at schools in Canada, Iowa, Pennsylvaniz, Hawaii and New Jersey recited a few Spanish poems at the Poetry Summit on April 30 all done via Google Hang Out.
“You’ve no idea the impact this created for my students," Williams said. "They had a clear example that studying Spanish can and should go beyond classroom walls.”
Student Lauren Auriemma said she and her friends had fun at the summit. "We all came together for the universal love of poetry," she said.
Paige Wasserman said she enjoyed working together with her friends.
