The West Orange Shillelagh Club Announces Major Fundraiser

The Essex Shillelagh Club has served the Greater North Jersey Community well for many decades. The Venue has been the home for countless events and fundraisers and the unofficial “HOME” to many additional community minded organizations. In over forty years the club has never solicited outside donations to directly benefit the Club and it’s members. After all, it is better to Give than to Receive. And, the Shillelagh’s have given to a wide variety of charities for nearly half a century. Not only has it served as the Irish Cultural Center of Northern New Jersey but it has hosted countless activities and fund raisers to benefit scores of families, friends and strangers alike.

The time has come to give the Club and grounds a makeover, and restore it to its former glory. A cross section of community leaders have banded together to lead this fundraising campaign. They are determined to restore the facility and have it remain the cornerstone of the community for decades to come.

On January 23rd, members of the Shillelagh Club will set off a full day of festivities, beginning with a “polar plunge” (or as they call it a Paddy Plunge) in Belmar, followed that night by a Beach Party back at the Clubhouse in West Orange.

About the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh: The Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh Foundation, a not-for-profit NJ corporation and 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, is an Irish-American social and charitable organization dedicated to the purpose of promoting and enhancing the fraternity and good fellowship of its membership and the Irish community. The organization is non-sectarian and non-political. The FSOS has three New Jersey chapters, in Old Bridge, Belmar and Essex/West Orange. FSOS Essex has hosted several events benefiting many charities, including Save our Shore, The Blood Center of New Jersey and St. Baldrick’s Foundation to fund Childhood Cancer Research.
