The money will go to various organizations, including local first responders.

CHATHAM, NJ — Nearly 1,000 runners participated in the 9th annual Chatham Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, raising over $27,000 for charity.

"This is a great community event that brings together people from around the Chathams and neighboring towns to give thanks for all that we have and to raise funds for organizations that do so much for others.," Mayor and Turkey Trot President Curt Ritter said.

In the past nine years, over $125,000 has been raised for the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Diabetes Research Institute, the Chatham Emergency Squad and The Barton Center for Diabetes Education.
