4 Car Burglaries In One Night Put Residents On Alert in Chatham Borough

Police ask resident to keep cars locked and valuables hidden.

A total of four cars at two different homes in Chatham Borough were burglarized on the same night, and police are asking residents to be vigilant and take precautions.

On May 18, a resident of Fairmount Avenue reported that both her vehicles in her home’s driveway were burglarized during the overnight hours, Kevin O’Shea of the Chatham Police Department said.

Both vehicles were unlocked and all that was taken was a pair of headphones, O’Shea said.

On the same day, police received a report of car burglaries on Dunbar Street. The homeowner told police both of her cars were also unlocked and that a radar detector was taken from one of them, O’Shea said.

The radar detector was later found on the front lawn of another house on the same street, O’Shea said.
